Brief guide for identification of compliant tower cranes (or not)
The Commitee for European Construction Equipment (CECE), with Linden Comansa as a member, has prepared a guide to distinguish tower cranes that don’t fulfil the European legislation. The import of non-compliant machinery is a major problem, not only because of the unfair competition, but also because of the risks of accidents that may occur due to the breach of the European Union security requirements.
To be able to distinguish tower cranes that are not compliant with the legislation with those that really are, the guide focuses on most common items, such as the marking (name and address of the manufacturer C E mark, etc.), documents that accompany the crane (Declaration of Conformity), noise emissions, compulsory additional safety equipment, etc.
It is not an exhaustive guideline, with too much data or technical information, but a comprehensive “early warning” tool that we recommend you to read.
